What Does Pain Under The Right Shoulder And Upper Back Indicate?

Recently I have begun to walk (pretty aggressively fo me - at age 69) 30 minutes every day to lose weight. In the last 2 days, I have begun to have pain under my right shoulder and my right upper back and side. I am not running a fever. I feel fine otherwise. The pain is worse when I put pressure on the area. I do not detect any problem with my urine. Is it simply muscle strain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, it might be a muscle strain indeed. It may be also a spine issue or rib nerve irritation.
I suggest you to stop such aggressive physical activity for a while, and consider physical therapy like a massage along with some pain killers (like Diclophenac). If it wont help, spine MRI seems necessary.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
