General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the patchy opacification of mastoid air cells can be related to various possible issues as:
- Chronic inflammation as sinusitis of mastoid region
- Low grade tumors
- Arteriovenous malformations
- Circulatory disturbances as ischemia through microvascular thrombosis or others
- Artefact of MRI or scan plates
- Others
However, details of symptoms of current complains, MRI or CT plates evaluation are mandatory for the further discussion and guidelines accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
