What Does Persistent Pain On The Sides Of Torso Suggest?

I drive truck for a living and my sides have been aching for several weeks. It seems to become more painful when I bend over to tie my shoes etc. My GP didn t have any answers for me. I kind of think it feels like bruised kidneys, but GP said kidney tests are fine. Never mind I didn t realize there was a charge

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Persistent pain in the sides of the torso may be indicative of developing costochondritis, gall bladder disease, fibromyalgia, etc.

Most truck drivers get prone to gall bladder disease because of untimely food intake, acid reflux, delayed natural needs, dehydration, disrupted sleep.

Older vehicles with inadequate suspension may cause vibration-induced pain leading to complications like costochondritis.

Sitting for long periods in long-distance drives or impacts is not healthy. Correct seating position may help to reduce the soreness & stress.

You are suggested to visit a GP, get clinically examined in person. Have a thorough medical check up done & get all the blood & Imaging tests done.

Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected. Avoid alcohol, smoking & addictions if any. Avoid packaged food & all spicy food. Stay hydrated & get adequate rest & sleep.

In the meantime you can take NSAIDS or Combiflam, one sos when pain. Take antacids and PPI's, Pantopazole-40, one sos when discomfort.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
