What Does Pink Mucus Discharge After A Bowel Movement Indicate?

I had a bowel movement today and I found pink like tissue on the toilet paper, almost looked like a latex balloons consistency. I have been dealing with some type of gi issue that is still not firmly diagnosed. Had a bad Gi bleed in July of 2015 and they found the descending colon very inflamed. I have had consistent pain on left side since then and most tests are leading to ischemic colitis. I am having a CTA next week of the abdomen. I am on a daily regiment of lialda, Miralax, and probiotics. Should this new symptom be a concern

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be due to minor blood streaks coming from hemorrhoids or rarely bowel bleed.

As of now you can use laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a gastroenterologist and plan for a colonoscopy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
