Hi! Im Shan..just this morning a got my daughter's x ray result. and the impression here is that pleurodiaphragmatic adhesion, right.could you kindly explain what is this all about...??by the way i brought my daughter to her pedia not for any lung or chest complain just i noticed that her left shoulder is a little bit lowered compared to her left...is there any connection between the two (the pleuro diaphragmatic adhesion and the lowering of her left shoulder?)?Thanks so much..
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pleuro-diaphramatic adhesion suggests chronic inflammation. Due to a chronic inflammatory process, exudates are formed which get organized to form adhesions. The cause of the adhesion depends on the diseases for which your region is endemic. In Asian countries, tuberculosis is the most common cause of any chronic inflammatory/ infective diseases of lung and pleura. The lowering of the shoulder is due to the pleural-diaphragmatic adhesion. You need to consult your pediatrician to know the cause of adhesion. This may require some investigations like mantoux test, sputum examination etc. to look for the evidence of tuberculosis.
