Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Positive CT Urogram Test Result Indicate?
I have had bladder cancer and had a tumor removed about a year ago. My urologist just informed me that my latest fish test came back positive and has scheduled me for a ct urogram{ ?}. Assuming that comes back positive what would be the next course of action? I just had an examine by the urologist a month ago in which he said he did not see an tumors.
A CT urogram is used to detect any recurrence/metastasis of a cancer amongst other things. If it comes back positive you may have to undergo a short course of chemo or a localized irradiation. But your urologist would be in a better position to assess that as he has your reports in hand. The reason why there might be a recurrence without your urologist detecting it a month back is that if it is a cancerous sell then it starts at such a level within the tissue that it is not detectable unless we do further tests like CT.
