What Does Positive UPT Post Surgical Abortion Indicate?

Hi my name is Carlie Underhill 21 years old. I had a surgical abortion 11 days ago I was 8+4 weeks pregnant and had no scan after the procedure was completed. So 11 days after the abortion i still have all my pregnancy symptoms and they are getting stronger so I took a pregnancy test (not a digital one, it had 2 lines) the test came back positive I am still bleeding and losing clots of blood as well also still having a lot of discharge with blood mixed in it the blood is bright red so is fresh, does this mean that the abortion wasn t a success and some of the foetus was left behind? Thanks

Yes! your suspicion is correct!

Hi! thanks for sharing your recent health problem with us and I must say that this is the typical symptom when we suspect some unsuccessful MTP when UPT stays positive and symptoms of pregnancy is still there!

Moreover, we must think of some other possibilities like molar pregnancy, double pregnancy and incomplete removal!

Therefore please see your gynecologist ASAP and get a USG lower abdomen and some biopsy tests from the products and plan a better line of treatment!
