What Does Possible Blood And Swelling In Nostril Indicate?

my left side of nostril appears red and swollen from inside and I went to blow my nose I felt like there was a big snot ball coming out. However when I looked at it, it was not normal. It looked like there was blood but there was no blood coming off when I wiped it.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of blood and swelling in nostril which is due to irritated lining of nostrils. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like chemical irritants , allergic reaction , injury to the nose , repeated sneezing and upper respiratory infection. Need not to worry. For now take benadryl twice a day , apply cold compresses on nose and take steam. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order nasal endoscopy , CT scan ,blood tests and x-ray to rule out conditions like nasal polyp . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) , anti histamine and may recommend surgery in case of nasal polyp.
