What Does Possible Left Atrial Enlargement Mean In ECG?
Hi! I had chest pain with high blood pressure reading of 190/90 i went to an urgent care and i had to pay $190.00 cash for checkup, and ECG. The MD said my lungs, and heart are fine. He also said the high BP reading have to monitered before a HTN diagnoses. And as far as the chest pain, he said it could be my gallbladder or ulcer from NSAID use. He said stop taking NSAID, and take Prilosec, and regarding my chest pain if it continues to see a stomach specialist. However, I was reading my ECG and it says Sinus rhythm possible left atrial enlargement"borderline ECG" what does this mean? is my heart ok?
Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi! as per your description your case could just be an isolated episode of hypertension and for confirmation of high BP, serial measurements are necessary in resting condition.
sinus rhythm is normal but left atrial enlargement means some pressure/problem with the lungs or some problem with the mitral valve; an echocardiography could confirm it!
if you are a smoker just quit it!
