What Does Presence Of Heartbeat With Missed Yolk Sac Mean?
What does it mean if you had a transvaginal U/S they saw a heartbeat but no yolk sac. They are assuming I am 6w3d. The heart beat was at 109. I have had minor dull achy pain and spotting. This is what caused my midwife to have a blood test drawn, and find out my Hcg levels are high in the 14,000 s. Now they want to see me in a week. Not truly explaining what is wrong. Just that they are concerned. I thought you couldn t get/see a heartbeat without a yolk sac. Did I do something to cause this? Is there anything I can do to/ specific vitamins I can take to try and help my baby?
Hello and welcome to HCM, It is possible to have a yolk sac without heart beat but not possible to heart beat and no yolk sac. I suggest you to please confirm the findings of the ultrasound. Absence of heart beat occurs due to blighted ovum. Blighted ovum is an abnormal pregnancy and it either aborts by itself or medication termination needs to be done because it is not possible to continue the pregnancy with a blighted ovum. Absence of yolk sac again implies that the pregnancy cannot progress further and it needs to be terminated. Please consult your doctor after a week for clearer picture.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
