What Does Presence Of Multinucleate Giant Cells In FNAC Report Mean?

Hello Doctor, My wife has had an FNAC done along ith other tests following a physician's presciption. The test results show a non-tender, firm swelling in left preauricular region. Thick yellowish material aspirated, and the microscopic examination says Aspirate smear shows numerous anucleate squames and keratinzed mature squamous cell with pyknotic nuclei. Few multinucleate giant cells present. There is no cytologic atypia. What are the options, please suggest, thanks.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello. I am a pathologist. Your wife's FNAC report seems like that of a keratinized cyst. As for the multinucleate giant cells, these are just modified macrophages, which are cells of the body's defense system against any infection or foreign body. There is absolutely nothing to worry.
