What Does Pressure In The Laryngeal Prominence Indicate?

SENSATION IN MY ESOPHAGUS LIKE A FINGER IS PRESSING ON MY ADAM S APPLE. HOSPITALIZED EARLY THIS YEAR WITH SEVERE BRONCHITIS. PULMONOLOGIST FEELS I NOW HAVE ASTHMA. TAKING BREO. BREATHING OKAY, BUT THIS SENSATION COMES AND GOES. COULD THIS BE THE ASTHMA OR POSSIBLY THYROID SYMPTOMS?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, I don't think it is due to asthma.
Asthma can not cause localized pressure symptoms. It can cause coughing or breathlessness.
Yes, possibility of thyroid enlargement can be the cause for your symptom.
So better to get done ultrasound examination of thyroid glad.
If this is normal then get done upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy to find out any esophageal obstructive pathology.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
