What Does Pressure On Nose After Torus Palatinus Surgery Indicate?

Hello doc!! It has been more than a month now after I had my torus palatinus surgery and just when I thot that my would is healing and I could start eating without much pain I am facing a strange problem.. Sometimes when I eat a little spicy food or drink water I can feel slight pain in the back of my right nose(as the area is towards right)..I feel as though the food get stuck or water entered the nose which causes pain and stuffiness and I blow my nose but nothing cones out except Lill watery mucous and sometimes while drinking I feel water comes out but I'm not able to distinguish between the two..I feel uncomfortable during eating rice or any spicy thing because of the mentioned problem and also the back of my nose sometimes hurts.. Sometimes when I lay down I could feel slight pressure on the nose.. I asked my doctor and he said everything seemed normal and there is no infection and that the operated area is healing well and that I worry too much but honestly now only I'm beginning to worry a lot as he said there is nothing to worry about but the problem is so discomforting and I want to know if it will be fine.. Pls help.. Thankyou!!

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain pressure on nose and feeling of water coming out of nose while drinking shows that there can be a small perforation in the palatal bone caused while removal of the torus in case more bone is removed during the surgery..

It can lead to communication between the nose and oral cavity leading to regurgitation of fluid from nose and when any spicy thing comes in contact with the nasal floor can lead to burning and pain in nose..

It can also lead to infection in the nasal cavity which can extend to the sinuses leading to sinusitis and symptoms of pressure in nose.

I would suggest you to consult an ORAL SURGEON and get evaluated for the exact cause of the problem and get treated accordingly. In case of small perforations you need to get them surgically repaired..

Hope your query is solved..
