What Does Prolonged Bleeding During Periods Indicate?

Hi! So I got my period early last month (May 28th) and it went on for 16 days total. And then just today, it started again, making in only being one week since my extra long period ended. I assumed that the early period was because of some emotional stress I was going through at the time, and I also just started wearing my birth control patch again after a couple months and it could be because of that that my cycle is all messed up, but I m still worried about why I m getting my period so unusually early again. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Taking into account your personal history, the only thing that explains irregular periods is hormonal imbalance due to wearing birth control patch. It requires a few more time to get the periods back to normal again. Observe your periods for the next 3 following months. If still irregular while no birth control, then, should consult further with your caring gynecologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
