What Does Prolonged Cough Indicate?

I have this persistent cough. It is worse when I go to bed at night. One week before Christmas the doctor told me I had pneumonia, he then put me on antibiotics, but the cough is still there. I have tried sleeping on several pillows but end up sitting most of the night in a recliner. He then put me on an inhaler but that does not seem to help. He is sending me to a pulmonary clinic but I cannot get into there for another month, Only sleep about two hours before I am up coughing again. Wondering if my medications could be causing this, I am on a very lose does of an antidepressant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
as you describe, it appears to be the upper respiratory infection, probably the uvilutits, infection of uvula a growth at the end of the soft palate.
When you lie down, the growth touches the back of the throat and cough is aroused.
I advise you to consult an E.N.T. surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms cifixime, phenylephrine, citrizine, and diclofenac . Gargle with luke warm salt water.
Avoid taking fruits, juices, ice water, ice cream ,cool water and cool drinks.
wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
