What Does Prolonged Fever For A 55 Year Old Make Indicate?

55 year old male; have had a low grade fever going on three weeks with terrible headache. Doctor took chest x rays, ct scan, blood work. Chest clear, no elevated white cell count. Fever went up to 102 with a rash beginning on feet, now moving up legs. Any ideas what this could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many causes that gives fever for a long time. It is possible to be an infection, tumor or lupus arthritis inflammatory disease, etc.

I suggest you to do a urine test, abdominal ultrasound. and a consult with Rheumatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
