Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am fifty five years old and am thinking I might be starting menopause. My period has always been very regular. Every 31 days and lasted for five days. I did not have a period in October but started spotting at the beginning of November and have been spotting for an entire month. My flow got heavier two days ago and is still heavy. Is this characteristic of menopause?
You are very much in menopausal age. It is hormonal imbalance what is happening is normal you have to bear with changes. You can consult gynecologist for examination and advise on treatment and can go for hormonal therapy with consultation of gynecologist. For this period symptomatic treatment can be recommended since there will be flushing of face dryness due to decrease of all secretion sleepless- ness and mental irritation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
