Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with a prominent 4th ventricle from an MRI scan done a few weeks ago. My appointment with the neurologist isn t for another 3 weeks, and I m beginning to worry myself of the possibilities. Can anybody shed any light as to what it could be caused by?
It can be earlier sign of raised intracranial pressure as cerebrospinal fluid is present in brain ventricles and those can get dilated if more fluid is produced or less is absorbed but if there are no associated symptoms like dizziness, headaches, vomiting, or altered consciousness etc., then nothing much to be worried about. Neurologist review to get the film's reviewed by him should be done as sometimes radiology reports in minute details which may not be clinically relevant so clinical relationship is always recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
