What Does "Fibrocalcific Infiltrates Are Noted In The Right Lung And Left Upper Lobe" Mean?

Hi! Doctor.
My mother chest X-ray: Fibrocalcific infiltrates are noted in the right lung and left upper lobe. Left lower lobe is clear. Tracheal air column is at the midline. the heart is not enlarged. lateral sinuses are intact.
Impression:
Suggestive of Fibroid PTB.
I have some question what does it means doctor?
thank you.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Fibrocalcific infiltrates in the right lung and left upper lobe is due to sequel of infection. It indicates healed stage of past infection.
However, recent infection in involved region require clinical correlation and further investigations.
Infection normally heals by calcification and fibrosis.
In most of the cases it doesn't require any treatment.Treatment is required only in severe fibrosis causing compromised pulmonary functions.

Other findings are within normal limit.Trachea is central in position.Heart size is also normal.

Hope I have answered your question.
Take Care
