What Does "HIV 1/0/2 Abs-Index Value 2.22 High" Mean?
I recently took a HIV test and the results shows (HIV 1/0/2 Abs-Index Value 2.22 High) Index Value: Specimen reactivity relative to the negative cutoff HIV 1/0/2 Abs, Qual Repeatedly Reactive Abnormal Non Reactive Please tell mean what does this mean. Does it mean that I have Aides?
Each test has an index value or a cut off value as indicated by the marketing company in the kit itself. If the individual's value is more than the index value, then the test is considered to be positive. In your case, as the value is more than 1,the test is considered to be positive or reactive. There is every possibility for a false positive report..So it is better to have another different type of Rapid or ELISA test to confirm the reactive result. If the second test is negative a third test after 15 days or a more confirmatory tests like Western Blot or PCR test may be necessary to confirm the reactive status or to rule out the same.
