What Does "mild Calcification In Its Proximal Part.." Mean?

My CT Angio 64 slice report shows all normal except " LAD : a wraparround vessel shows mild calcification in its proximal part with a focal moderate lesion" ..... my total calcium 13....my doctor first said i have around 10% narrowing but later with detailed report he told me its between 20% to 30%.... just suggested statins, loprin and excercise....i dont smoke and no alcohol...i excercise daily and i am a squash player. What doi need to do . ? Plz advise.

Thanks for writing in.

You may not worry. An isolated 20 - 30 % narrowing can be managed with medicines such as statins and balanced diet with exercise. Sometimes calcifications as mentioned can occur as part of aging process. Narrowing is significantly risky only if it exceeds 75 %. With your findings, you may get an echocardiography done to know the hemodynamics of the heart. Serum lipid profile tests may be done.
