What Does "moderate L5-S1 Facet Proliferative Changes" Mean?

I am 45 years old, weigh around 192lbs. I had lower back pain which has manifested into pain in my left leg, numbness in lower part of my left leg. Doctor took x-ray and provided this response: Moderate L5-S1 facet
proliferative changes. What does this mean? Should I push for MRI?
