What Does Red Discoloration On Breast Post Recovery From Cancer Indicate?

My wife has one hot breast, red colouration, the other is normal, she had radio therapy 2 years ago but this is the first time this has occurred. She had breast cancer 2 years ago, had lump removed and a course of radiotherapy, screening test was all clear a couple of months ago.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The red, hot breast with history of radiotherapy may be part of thrombosis of superficial veins of the breast region or else.

* I would like to consult her with her treating oncologist for possible need of doppler ultrasound report of the breast and figure out the exact cause of the same and get guidance accordingly.

My guidelines till that time

- local application of ice
- prescription of antibiotics as cephalexin or amoxycillin to prevent secondary bacterial infection in this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
