Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, On monday night I noticed a red mark on the top right edge of my lip. I immediatley put Abreva on it thinking the worse that it was a cold sore. Two days later, it now looks like a tiny white dot, almost like a zit, so I dont know whether it is a cold sore or a zit. Or what it is. I had no tingling, burning or any of that. I ve been continuing to put Abreva on it although I am not sure what it is. Please help
Thanks for your query .As you mention in your query that you have red spot on lips which turned into white.Well it could be a boil , sebaceous gland or simply a pimple.
I would suggest you to give warm compresses 2-3 times a day ,wash your face twice a day and apply broad spectrum sunscreen. You ban also apply benzoyl peroxide and hydrocortisone cream .
If it persists for more then 2-3 days or get worse or painful (means it got infected) then you should consult dermatologist who may prescribe you topical or oral antibiotics depending on the condition .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
