What Does Redness And Irritation Around The Vagina Indicate?

Hi I am a 42 year old female and went to my primary last Tuesday because of discomfort by my anal hole. I was told I had a fungal infection and was prescribed a cream (clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate) the redness around my rectum went away and at that time I did not have redness by my lower vagina. Now my lower half of the vagina and perianal are red and feels very irritated. I m afraid to continue using the cream because I don t know if it s causing this. I ve been using this cream since last Tuesday twice a day.

Redness and vaginal itching is likely due to spread of yeast infection to the vagina.
Since topical treatment is not helping, I recommend taking single dose of 150 mg fluconazole to clear up the infection.
You can also take cetirizine 10.mg once daily to relieve itching.
Keep the area clean and dry
Wear loose fitting undergarments.
