What Does Redness Around An Insect Bite Indicate?

Thank you. My friend had a tick that we spotted on his belly and there was a reddness around the area. I removed as much as I could, then we went to the ER. They prescribed the 2 tablet Lyme prevention. We re figuring 24-36 hours it was there. He then proceeded to his own doctor who put him on another antibiotic. He then proceeded to get another tick which we successfully removed. His test came back positive for Lyme. He s now on a 21 day antibiotic. Do you think he s ok from getting the disease

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
The most important thing is to watch for signs of infection such as pus secretion fever or swelling of extremity and in this case you should see doctor who will probably prescribe antibiotics. Otherwise, you need some kind of antihistaminic ointment Also Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours. Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling such as Benadryl or Chlor-Trimeton. Hydrocortisone 1% cream or calamine lotion may also be helpful. it is important not to scratch or manipulate the wound to prevent infection. You may cover the wound with a thin layer of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, and a nonstick bandage.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
