What Does Resting Heart Rate Of 120 Indicate?

Hi, i am a 19 year old, normal weight teenager who has a high heart rate but normal blood pressure. I am currently in a fitness testing class that has us checking HR and BP constantly. My heart rate is normally around 90 or sometimes even a little higher. last week my professor checked my HR and found it to be around 120, resting. She seemed very concerned and listed a number of things that i couldve done that morning that possibly raised it but none applied to me. I was curious if i should be worried, my grandmother has heart disease. is this something i should consult my physician about?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The normal heart rate ranges from 60 to 100. During physical activity the heart rate may rise.

A heart rate of 120 is high. It would be best to see your doctor for assessment to determine the cause.

This would involve physical examination, blood tests to check for anemia and also to check your thyroid hormone levels may be done.
High thyroid hormone and anemia can cause increased heart rate.

An ECG to check the rate and rhythm of the heart would also be needed.

I hope this helps
