What Does Retrocardiac Nodularities In X Ray Result Mean?
Hi. My 3-yr.old son had his xray and.the findings was streaky infiltrates in both lung fields. Both hila are dense with evident bilateral hilar nodularities. There are also retrocardiac nodularities seen. Other chest structures are unremarkable. Above findings, wherein primary koch's pulmonale is considered....i am.worried with the retrocardiac nodularities. What does this means? thank you.
Streaky infiltration and retrocardiac nodular opacities may indicate infective etiology. It may be due to pneumonia, tuberculosis etc. It need clinical correlation and routine investigations like routine hemogram, mantoux test. Initially I suggest broad spectrum antibiotics and follow up X-rays. If findings persists then tuberculosis etc should be excluded.
Other findings are normal.
