What Does Scan Report Of Loops Of Cord Around Fetus S Neck Mean?

This query is for my wife . She is now 8 months pregnant , And in recent scan there was a remark saying that , Two loops of cord around the neck of fetus . doctor told , nothing much to worry but keep observing the baby movement and there is a chance of C-section also. i want to know , 1:what was the reason this situation happened..? 2:is there any extra care we have to do in following days..? thanks in advance

i understand your concern. based on the information provided, the foetus has the umbilical chord tangle around its neck.

first things first: the foetus is connected to the placenta by umbilical chord. sometimes the chord can entangle itself or run around the foetus. it could be due to:
1) long chord
2) large amniotic fluid cavity for excess mobility of the foetus
3) active foetus
4) other causes

as long as the chord does not tightly wrap around the foetus, everything is fine. the doctors may have to perform a C-section if complications arise or if there are multiple coils around the foetus which prevents a normal vaginal delivery. My advice is to monitor the fetal movements and kicks. if you think there is any changes or decreased fetal movements, please visit the clinic/ hospital immidietly.
