Dear Doctor
I have done semen analysis and found there is a issue with motility stating Grade A+B together 45% which should be 50% (Grade A - 10% & Grade B - 35%). All other factors are ok. Should i take any drugs or i consult any doctor if so please let me know which speciality?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The motility of sperms is an important factor to label the sample as normal.
The motility of sperms is divided into three grades- A, B and C.
Grade A includes sperms with rapid progressive motion.
Grade B-sperms with slow progressive motion
Grade C- sperms which are non-progressive.

The grade A and B combined should be atleast 40% and grade A alone should be 32%.
Initially, the grade A and B sperms should be 50%, however, the new WHO criterion considers grade A and B sperms to be atleast 40% for adequacy.
However, the grade A sperms have low motility than the lower limit of normal range.

However, before coming to any conclusion 3 semen analysis needs to be done after 2-3 weeks after abstinence of atleast 3 days.

After getting 3 semen analysis, you can consult an urologist.

Thanks and take care
