What Does Sensitivity On The Chest Area After Surfing Suggest?
I spend a lot of time surfing and have just noticed today that my chest and lats on the left side of my body are sensitive to touch. I am not sunburned but it feels like I am. I am 21 years old. We live in San Diego. Do you think it may be something in the water that is causing this? I have no blisters.
** Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern
1. As you have spend a lot of time surfing thus it could be the repetitive board trauma to the chest {SURFER'S NIPPLE}, [when paddling out and resting], even then a quick checkup with a chest specialist can be helpful
2. remaining too much under water [on surf board] can cause too much abrasion and can cause soreness and irritation.
3. Tips to avoid in future are:
. apply an emollient [vaseline] acting as water proof . consider having an antiseptic cream [if skin is inflammed] . avoid sun burn
