Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Severe Headache Along With Dizziness Indicate?
You have a 30 year woman who comes into the clinic complaining about bad cramps, headache and feeling very dizzy. What would be one of the main questions you would ask her during her intake? What Lab exam would you run before the doctor even comes in to see her? Would you take a full set of vitals? If yes why?
Yes, you should definitely take full set of vitals including pulse, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, temperature etc. Hypertension can cause headache and dizziness. Routine blood reports like CBC (complete blood count) sugar levels, kidney function test are needed. You should ask for Type of headache (Pulsating, gripping, burning etc), duration of headache (minutes or hours), associated vomiting present or not, dizziness in which position (standing or sitting or lying down).
Hope I have answered your query.
