What Does Severe Joint Ache In The Wrists, Elbows And Neck Indicate?

Hello, I am 49 year old female with severe joint pain on both sides of my body for several years that comes and goes. wrists, hands, elbows, back, neck, knees, feet and fingers. my handles go numb with pins and needle feeling. I have started having trouble with snoring within the last 3 months as well as restless leg syndrome. I have looked up fibromyalgia and RA and have almost all FM symptoms and most RA. I have been tested for RA in the past with a negative result. My doctor is testing me again but doing a more thorough test along with thyroid and other things. In your opinion do my symptoms sound like FM or RA? also I just had a complete hysterectomy 7 months ago with both ovaries removed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

1)Do a detailed clinical examination by your [rheumatologist]and do check your uric acid level.

2)If confirmed then discuss with your treating Doctor about [Colchicine, Corticosteroids for pain and allopurinol to prevent complications]

You can take few preventive steps like this-

1)Try to keep your fluid intake high.

2)Try to limit or avoid alcohol.

3)Get your protein from low-fat dairy products. Low-fat dairy products may actually have a protective effect against gout, so these are your best-bet protein sources.

4)Try to limit your intake of meat, fish and poultry.

5)Try to maintain a desirable body weight. Choose portions that allow you to maintain a healthy weight. Losing weight may decrease uric acid levels in your body.

Hope that helps
