What Does Severe Pain Above The Navel Along With Vomiting Indicate?

My sister have severe pain above and to the right of her bellybutton, & is vomitting. She feels some bowel Pressure. She is another state and I’m trying to get her to go the the ER. Gallstone & gallbladder removal run in our family. Do you think I’m correcturging her to go to ER.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. since the symptoms are acute thus an immediate visit to ER is warranted to exclude:

i. As the pain is on the right side, in addition to x-ray, ask for ultrasonography of HBR [hepatobiliary region] for Amoebic liver abscess and Cholecystitis. [since family history is present]

PS. other possibilities which can be excluded at the time of examination are an inflammatory bowel disorder, appendicitis.

PS. sometimes there may be an underlying medical condition/situation which needs appropriate treatment so urgent medical evaluation and management is required.
