What Does Severe Pain Behind The Left Eye Indicate?

I have a severe pain behind my left eye. It comes and goes but is really painful when it occurs. I am 86 years old and take many medications for heart problems. I have been told not to take Tylenol or any other over the counter medications. Should I see my doctor?
