What Does Severe Pain In Abdomen And Chest Upon Movement Indicate?

Hi, my 83 year old, very healthy father has been experiencing severe pain in his abdomen and chest when he moves, bends or coughs. He has no other symptoms. He is normally very stoic but the pain was so bad on Sunday I took him to ER. They did ekg s, blood tests and a full CT and said nothing is wrong...it s probably a virus. Could this be an atypical presentation of shingles...its been 7 days, pain is not improving, he has no rash...takes no meds. They gave him pain killers but to no effect. Thanks, Lori

There can be hernia, intestine obstruction. He needs to get a Gastroenterologist consult. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
