What Does Severe Pain In The Groin Area Indicate?

I m nine weeks post hip replacement. After bending over to lift something about twenty pounds I now have pain in my groin and gluteal regions. I can still weight bear but I am quite tender. Could I have dislocated this hip? Should I call my orthopod and get seen? Maybe get a hip x ray? but I Most likely this is a muscle strain right?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it be pulled muscle or torn muscle fibres however such groin pains need to be evaluated for any signs of pulled ligament. Orthopedician review can be helpful to diagnose but till then OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
