What Does Severe Pain In The Left Temporal Area Indicate?

Hello, I EXPERIENCE SHOOTING PAINS IN MY LEFT TEMPORAL area when chewing food. It is an ongoing phenomenon and now is getting worse. I have a appt. with my primary physician next week but until then I m on my own. I take Naprosyn and wear a mouthguard when I sleep. The dentist thinks it MIGHT be from grinding my teeth when I sleep. I wonder about temporal arteritis...
