What Does Severe Pain In The Left Thigh And Hips Indicate?

my left hip and thigh is extremely painful to the touch as well as deep bone pain. I was in a terrible wreck in 1978 and almost lost my left leg due to the injuries incurred with this accident. My left foot was turned and broken, my left calf was mangled. They took bone from my hips and skin grafts from my buttocks and leg to repair the injury to by calf area. When I get up in the morning it hurts to walk and I am concerned but could this just be due to the arthritis going on in this leg from old injuries?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The accident you describe sounds terrible, and the multiple fractures certainly increases your risk of long-term functional deficits and osteoarthritis. I recommend an x-ray of your leg. As differential diagnoses, the most important are sciatica and peripheral arterial disease. Both are conditions your GP can assess.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
