What Does Severe Pain In The Lower Abdomen Indicate?

HELLO, I AM 63 YEAR OLD FEMALE EXPERIENCING EXTREME LOWER ABDOMINAL PAIN. I HAVE NOT HAD A BOWEL MOVEMENT IN 4-5 DAYS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH CONSTIPATION, USUALLY THE OPPOSITE. MY STOOL IS NOT HARD, I DRINK LOTS OF WATER AND FLUIDS AND I HAVE BEEN EATING SALADS. THE PAIN AND CRAMPING ARE SO SEVERE THAT I CAN NOT EXERT PRESSURE TO PUSH OR BEAR DOWN. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I hope you got your stools normal. If not then that could be due to intestinal obstruction.

You should be examined and x-ray abdomen and labs should be done with appropriate pain management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
