Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Severe Pain In The Lower Back And Knees Indicate?
I was diagnosed with sciatica after sudden debilitating pain occurred in my low back, hips, and knees. My shin is numb, over my shins, & I have prickly numbness in my feet. The most severe pain is all around the knee. I can t walk, & use a wheelchair. I can t put weight on my affected foot for more than 3 steps. My leg collapses and I have to scoot around on the floor. Nothing relieves my pain. I ve tried Advil, muscle relaxers, neurontin & even 10-15mg of oxycodone. This has lasted one week, and I m afraid it s getting worse. What doctor should I consult?
I understand your concern for your health condition. It looks like severe prolapsed intervertebral disc causing sciatica. I would suggest to consult neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon urgently to evaluate your symptoms further and do necessary treatment.
