What Does Severe Pain In The Neck Indicate?

Got this stabbing pain at the right side close to the base of my neck. Pain is unbearable if I move or exert effort. Just took 2 pills of Aleve to ease the pain and placed hot compress at the spot. Place advise if this is a temporary pinched neck nerve pain or another related nerve pain. Thanks

Hi,

Your pain can be just a sprain or muscle pull. Which would be relieved in few days.in case it is prolonged. Please get X-ray neck done to detect any cervical spinal /disc problem /cervical rib on the side of pain. Compressing nerve . If confirmed would need specific treatment with anti inflammatory medicines,steroids /physiotherapy /surgery in gew cases.
