What Does Severe Pain In The Pelvis On The Right Side Indicate?

My 46 year old daughter just experienced sudden extreme pain on her right side just above her pelvis that radiated to the front and the back with the sharpest pain right above her pelvic bone. She became nauseated but did not throw up. When the pain stopped, she got really cold and felt weak. She has had a kidney stone in the past and thinks that might be what this was again.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, possibility of urinary stone related pain is more likely. She is having lower back pain which is radiating to front and is associated with nausea and vomiting. All these are classical symptoms of ureteric stone. So in my opinion, you should definitely consult urologist and done X ray and CT scan of KUB (kidney ureter bladder). If stone is there and obstructing the ureter, she will need surgical (endoscopic) removal of stone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
