Hi, I just experienced very sharp nerve type pain on the top of my right foot. It started 10 mins ago and has come on for about 45 sec. of intense pain - sharp burning/pin prickling about 5 times. Seems to be slowing down, but it s nothing I ll ever be able to sleep through if it continues.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking.I undrstand your concern. The pattern of pain duggests your foot pain to be nerve pain... due to local nerve irritation ( by tarsal tunnel syndrome or pressure dye to local inflammation, arthritis or spur) OR piressure at lumber spinal level.Or stress &vitamin B12 dfeciency Please don't worry.detailed examination &relevent investigations like blood test for B12 /MRI would help in pin pointing the cause followed by specific treatment (which could be physiotherapy, pain medicines, local steroid injections, physical therapy or surgery.) Please consult an orthopedic surgeon. Thanks.
