What Does Severe Pain In The Right Knee Indicate?

Wednesday, when I was getting off of work, I felt some pain on my right side of knee area. It was painful. It gets worse if I sit down for a period of about 7 mins. or so. When I walk I stretch it and it gives me a little relief but not enough. It is still painful and makes me favor the right leg. It is now Friday. I am not sure how I got this. What can I do to relieve the pain?

Hello,

Do you have pain along with swelling or not? Any fever associated. Any other joints pain associated. For me, your pain looks like you have arthritis in the knee or something. If you had any trivial trauma in the last few days unnoticed then also you will have the same symptoms.

I suggest you get an x-ray of the knee to rule out if you have any ligament injury or fracture hairline missed. If it is there also and minor then there is no need for surgery and it will heal on its own. You can take the painkiller for three days if you have pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
