What Does Severe Pain In The Right Leg Indicate?

I have leg pain that radiates down my right leg. I had an X-ray done that rules out sciatica. I thought it was the piriformis muscle pinching the sciatic nerve but I m not sure. it has been going on for about a year and getting progressively worse. I saw a general doctor but she was of no help other than ruling out sciatica. I am not sure what kind of doctor to see?
