Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi- I woke up this morning with extreme pain in my right leg. It goes from my hip down to my ankle. All of the muscles in my leg ache and I am unable to put weight on it. There is no noticeable swelling, or redness. My Dr put me on a Statin last Friday- I thought this might have something to do with it. However, when I spoke with the oncall Dr at my primary Dr’s office he said if it was a statin side effect it would be in BOTH legs. It isn’t. I have had a heating pad on it all day. Should I be in panic mode, or wait patiently and see if it goes away?
Here are things that you can try for the muscle pain - Use the RICE regimen Rest Ice the area for 15 mins Compress the area with a crepe bandage Elevate the area by sleeping with the leg on top of a pillow Along with this, taking over the counter painkillers and getting lots of rest can help Physiotherapy, self massage, and stretching can help as well.
I hope this helps. Do see a sports doctor if the pain persists.
