What Does Severe Pain In The Right Middle Finger Indicate?

Hi my husband has extreme pain in his middle finger of his right hand, we believe it is Raynauds Phenonmo should he soak his finger in hot water or cold. Last January he slammed a sledgehammer into it and I think this caused trauma. He saw a hand specialist who performed surgery but I think he did more damage. we have been researching Botox injection for his painful finger. What can he do to relieve this excruciating pain? Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Raynaud's phenomenon may affect more fingers than single it may be neurofibroma or it may be nerve damage. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Please consult your neurophysician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
