What Does Severe Pain In The Tongue Indicate?

When i brush my teeth i have extreme pain on my tounge. I think its my toothpaste. I stopped brushing my teeth because of it. I ve tried sensodyne and other toothpastes but every one burns my mouth. What causes the extreme burning sensation on my tounge?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Pain and burning sensation in tongue while brushing teeth is probably yes, due to the toothpaste as it seems that you are having a reaction or allergy to any of the constituents of the toothpaste..

Certain common ingredients that are found in regular toothpastes like Sodium Lauryl Sulphate can cause allergic reaction causing burning, irritation and inflammation of tongue..

So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..

You can be advised hypoallergic toothpaste that can help in reducing the severity of symptoms..

Bu it should be noted that stopping brushing of teeth can cause increased evidences of decay and gum infections..

So better get checked soon..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
