Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your guess is right.your pain appears to be of lumbar origin, in other words, due to lumbar disc degeneration or swelling.this causes impingement mostly temporary on the nerves(especially sciatic nerve) at the cord that leads to pain.but please don't worry as its very common and treatable.the following are the guidelines of treatment :

1) First and foremost is rest for at least 10 days.
2) Lifting heavy weights, strenuous activities, abnormal postures are to be avoided.
3) NSAIDs like Ibuprofen can be taken along with muscle relaxants like Thiocolchiside or Chlorzoxazone twice daily for 5 days.
4) Tab.Pregabalin once daily only at night before sleep for 15 days is recommended.
5) Vit B12,B6,folic acid and other neuro-regenerative supplements are also helpful.
6) After your pain gets better, you can see a physiotherapist for some back muscle (paraspinal muscles) strengthening exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
